As a film-maker, David Crews has created two long-form pieces. “Big Bend – A Landscape Romance” and his project in current production, “Ancient Songs and Green Magic,” about Amazonian shamanism. His Big Bend film has won a Silver Telly Award and a Moondance International Film Festival Award for the compelling original music score and performance. His new film has also won two Silver Telly Awards in its current incarnation, one for the music score and one as a travel program. These programs have emerged from his early experiences of creating long-form “personal essay” travel documentaries as produced slide-show presentations, long before the digital revolution made full scale video film production possible for everyone. Aside from film, Crews's professional experience has been in commercial broadcast television production. He has extensive experience in award-winning television and computer graphics production over a 35-year career involving broadcast television stations, production houses, and cable television. |

David has many other interests and achievements. He is a published author, recording artist, and world traveler. He is a staff announcer for KMFA - one of the last purely classical radio stations. David also has a special interest in traditional shamanism and has traveled to the Amazon to work with indigenous healers. He lives and works in Austin, Texas. |
